This is due to the fact that evenings leave us little time to do actual work. We do not have that much more of the trail to do so lets show up and finish this nice trail. Riders can choose to ride 10 miles, 19 miles or the full 24 miles. Helmets, snacks, and water are required. The bike hike will begin at the main IRT Trailhead off of PA 145 (1/4 mile East of Sheetz) on Chestnut St. in Whitehall PA. Bikes should be capable of riding on some rough surfaces (street bikes can be used although there are some rough surfaces and gravel trails). This will be a moderate paced ride 9-11 mph on the Ironton Trail. We will begin by taking two loops on the IRT (10 miles). People wishing to drop out after the first 10 miles can do so at the break. The second leg of the bike hike is 9 miles. We will head West on the extension thru the Whitehall Parkway and return by completing one more loop on the Ironton Trail (9 miles round trip). Anyone wishing to continue on with the group leader for an additional 5 mile ride on the loop can do so completing 24 miles total. Rain or extreme cold cancels. 5	6	7	8	9	10	11 4-11-09 9:30 am \| Hike Delaware Water Gap Mt Tammany Day Hike Loop hike Starting at the DWG visitor center, climbing Mt Tammany, then continuing to Sunfish Pond. This 12 mile hike starts on the Mt Tammany Trail with a 1200 ft climb of Mt. Tammany. We will continue along the ridge for several miles, then turn onto the Turquois trail which takes us to Sunfish Pond. After hiking around Sunfish Pond we will return via Dunnfield Creek Trail. Optional Pizza stop after the hike. New hikers to the group will be screened. Because this hike is somewhat Strenuous, group size will be limited. Weather permitting and depending on the group concensus we may ride further up the trail towards Whitehaven. Meet at 9:00 am at the furthest parking lot (first major parking area when entering the Park from Jim Thorpe. Helmuts, water, and snacks are required. Please make sure bikes are in good order. This is the first in a series of 12 hikes that will cover the entire 141 miles of the Horse-Shoe Trail, a public hiking and horseback trail in southeastern PA that extends from Valley Forge to the Appalachian Trail on the crest of Stony Mountain east of Harrisburg. The H-ST, established in 1935, contains a mix of footpaths and rural road walking. This section includes Mt. Misery in VFNP and scenic Chester County horse country. Ironton Rails Trail Bike Ride
