Enjoy this 4 mile hike in on the Appalachian Trail from PA 309 to the Allentown Shelter. Bring appropriate backpacking equipment and supplies to camp out for the night then hike 4 miles back to the parking area the next day. You may also choose to make it an 8 mile dayhike. Hike will not be cancelled due to any weather conditions. Rain or shine. Open to all. We should be returning to the parking area around 10:30AM on Sunday Morning. Bucolic Chester County is located in southeastern Pennsylvania, and its natural beauty is marked by a pleasant, rolling landscape. Explore and be charmed by the many hiking trails found in the region including the Brandywine Trail and the Horse-Shoe Trail as well as French Creek, Marsh Creek and Ridley Creek State Parks and the Valley Forge National Historic Park.
With thanks to the combined efforts of the Batona Hiking Club, Chester County Trail Club, Horse-Shoe Trail Conservancy, Philadelphia Trail Club and Wilmington Trail Club, the Keystone Trails Association is proud to present a weekend hike schedule that truly highlights the very best in hiking in southeastern Pennsylvania. Parks and Arts of Allentown (Series Part VII)

Van Campens Glen Circle HikeStarting at the Lower Glen Trail, we will follow the trail along Van Campens Brook for 1 mile heading to the Upper Glen. This area is rocky, narrow in places and can be slippery when wet. Along the way are several waterfalls in the rhododendron-filled ravine. The trail eventually connects to Watergate Trail. A level 1 1/2 miles takes us to Millbrook Village where we will view buildings in a re-created nineteenth-century village, hiking along several other scenic trails before heading back to the cars.
Bring lunch, water, and wear sturdy shoes.

KTA Trail Care Thunder Swamp Trail SystemKeystone Trail Association Maintenance at Promised Land State Park
Trail Care weekends begin Friday evening at the designated campsite. A full day of trail work on Saturday is followed by an evening of campfire sociability and possibly a meal out at a local restaurant (Dutch treat). After a morning of additional trail work, the weekend concludes about noon on Sunday.
If you can't spare an entire weekend, you can join the group for whatever portion is convenient. No experience or special skills are required. Tools and work gloves will be provided.
Volunteers should contact trip leaders to indicate their intent to participate and get up-to-the-minute information.
