For those of us who need some easy walking to get back in shape... we will take a leisurely walk around the ballfield next to the Quakertown Park at 4th and then around the walking path in the park. Two plus/minus miles depending on how much you want to do.

Monocacy Trail and Bach at Noon ConcertHike and Concert
Meet at the Illick's Mill parking lot in Bethlehem to hike the Monocacy Trail 2 miles to Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem. The trail is flat, a combination of pavement and natural surfaces. The concert by the Bach Choir is free, but donations are appreciated. After the concert, we will eat lunch beside the Monocacy Creek and then walk 2 miles back to our cars. Bring lunch and water. Masks are optional for the concert. Steady rain, sleet or snow on the morning of the event will cancel the hike.

Lehigh Furnace Gap Boulder Field and AT HikeA challenging hike along the Appalachian ridge which includes 1.1 miles on an exposed unstable boulder field and passing over the NE extension tunnel. Many fine views north and south! Not for beginners or people with balance issues!
Leaving from and returning to Lehigh Furnace Gap on the AT, this out-and-back hike will primarily cover the AT with a side trip on the blue-blazed South Trail. We will be moving at a good clip when the trail is easy, but taking our time thru the boulders and stopping to enjoy the vistas and sights along the way. Numerous views both north and south of the Northeast Extension and Lehigh River. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks. No pets. Rain cancels.

Urban Arts Walk-Southside BethlehemThis is a leisurely paced walk in order to view over 30 art installations.
The Urban Art Trail is a 3mi. art experience that sprawls across Bethlehem's Southside. There is a dynamic collection of murals, mosaics, sculptures, etc. The walk will take approximately 2 hrs.
In prep for the walk you may check out Urban Art Trail web page. I will be following the self-guided tour.
Post hike there are many restaurants nearby for lunch.

Lock#2 is just on the outside of Lehigh Gorge. We will be cleaning the Lock which was adopted by the Allentown Hiking Club to Maintain. Please bring gloves, water and a light lunch. Also bring clippers, a rake, or broom and hand trowel if you have them. I will provide some tools.

Blue Marsh Lake - North Loop (8 miles)Enjoy the Spring flora on this weekday loop hike at the north end of Blue Marsh Lake.
Considered moderately challenging, this 8-mile hike is a mix of woodlands, meadows, and lake shore with a couple steep inclines and nice views. The Spring flora should be bursting at this time of year. Some areas may be muddy. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Bring water, lunch / snacks. Rain postpones.

It’s that time... I’ll be walking my section of the AT on Tuesday, 2 May and anyone interested in a 7-mile out and back on rocky terrain is welcome to come along.
Bring a pair of work gloves to pick up debris along the way. I will have a bowsaw with me to remove any blowdowns we find. We will stop at the Allentown Shelter on either the out or back (or both) for a break/snack.
Meet at 9:00am at the parking lot where Fort Franklin Road crosses the AT.
