Bike Trip will leave the Kutztown University Large parking lot on College Blvd across from Fairgrounds at 11:11 OR drive to Clover Hill Winery and meet at 12:00 between Rte 222 and Shantz Rd. Short hike will leave at 12:12 to Rodale Institute. Bring your gardening hat and gloves. After drinking we'll get down and dirty. This hike promises to be quite entertaining - "we'll see". If time allows we will do a side trip to Vynecrest Winery. Bike trip is about 15 flat miles.

Short but steep walk over Witchcraft Hill on the night (according to the book "Ghost Stories of Berks County" by Charles Adams III) that witches come out to dance. BEAUTIFUL scenery, perhaps some witches. "We'll see!" Come hungry, we'll have some BERKS hot dogs on the grill. You MUST be a member for this hike as it is on PRIVATE properties by permission. Wear old clothes, they may smell like the farm.

Canoe Ride, Picnic and Film about Mountain Top Removalenjoy a picnic lunch after a canoe trip and end our day by viewing the film entitled “Coal Country” which is about Mountain Top Removal. Following the movie there will be a discussion on the practice of Mountain Top Removal
Cost to attend all events: $ 10 dollars covers the cost of canoes, paddles, life vests, picnic lunch & beverage, and film.
Schedule plan:
Canoe trip: 9am-1:00 pm
Meet at 9am at the Hope Road Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission Public access located off the south side of Freemansburg Ave a quarter mile east of route 33. All necessary equipment provided but we recommend that participants bring plenty of water and binoculars.
Attending just the Lunch Cookout & Film: 2pm-4pm
Cost for attending just the Lunch and Film: Suggested donation of $5 dollars.

This section will traverse the area around Hershey. We will hike thru Hershey Farm property (7.6 miles), pass Hershey Cemetery and Hershey Country Club, and have a view of the Hershey Dome and the valley from Swatara Creek to the Blue Mountains. We will finish up with 2.5 miles on paved rural roads.

Glen Onoko Waterfalls and the Lehigh Gorge State ParkConservation will be the topic of the day when we hike the Glen Onoko Waterfalls and the Lehigh Gorge State Park.
Conservation will be the topic of the day when on Saturday, May 15th, the Allentown Hiking Club will join other local hiking clubs for a 10 mile hike at the Glen Onoko Waterfalls and the Lehigh Gorge State Park. We will be hiking various trails on this lovely park located in the Jim Thorpe area. First time hikers with leader will be screened. Optional Pizza stop after the hike. 22 mile Bicycle Ride along Lehigh and Delaware Tow Paths.Start just west of Easton along the Lehigh River in Palmer Township and ride to Reiglesville. Then return on the same trails.
bike helmets are required.
Hybrid or Mountain Bike is appropriate.
Please bring an extra bike tube with you. I will have a pump.
We will start just west of Easton along the Lehigh River in Palmer Township.
The first segment will be the 3 miles along the Lehigh from Riverview Park in Palmer Township to the first Lock on the Delaware at Easton.
The next segment will be the 8 miles from Easton to Reiglesville biking along the very scenic Delaware River using the repaired Delaware Canal.
There may be a few rough sections where we need to get off our bikes and walk them.
We will make a refreshment stop in Reiglesville then do the 11 miles back.
