Hike an Appalachian Trail section affected by recent fires.

We will carpool to Lehigh Furnace Gap and climb several hundred feet to the ridge crest, where we will see what effect the recent fires had on the trail. At the North Trail we will follow that trail along the open ridge where a different fire impacted the area. Then we will descend the North Trail to the Appalachian Trail and pass by the Outerbridge Shelter and return to our cars by way of the Woodpecker Trail. Bring water and snacks; sturdy footwear required.

A classic hike through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

We will meet at the Dunnfield Creek Parking Lot, hike up the Dunnfield Hollow Trail to Sunfish Pond, take a break on some rocks overlooking the pond and then hike the Appalachian Trail (AT) to Raccoon Ridge where we'll stop for lunch. We will then follow the AT all the way back to our cars. Sturdy hiking boots and trekking poles are recommended as there will be rocky conditions and several stream crossings. Bring at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks. Rain cancels.

Explore a variety of trails in Carbon County.

We will hike on the LNE, Prairie Grass, Chestnut Oak, and Double G Trails to the western end of the Center. We will then hike through the Arboretum and take the Three Ponds Trail to return to the LNE for the return trip to our cars. About half of the hike will be on a rail trail and the other half on hiking trails through grassland and forest, with views of the Lehigh River and Palmerton. Bring water and snacks. Spring maintenance hike for AHC's Appalachian Trail section followed by a potluck picnic.

This is our annual clean-up of our section of the A.T. Please bring gloves, trash bags, clippers, water and dish to share with group. Marion Orlousky of the ATC will join us again this year to provide guidance on the removal of invasive plant species from portions of the trail to the north of 309. After clean-up we will have a picnic at Bake Oven Knob parking lot. Please let the coordinator, Ed Ritter(610-261-1847, Cell 484-241-7782) know what dish you will be bringing. Hot dogs will be provided by the club. Bring your own chairs.
