Pulpit and Pinnacle Loop Hike (10 miles)Loop hike to the Pulpit and Pinnacle
This is a loop hike, starting at the Hamburg Reservoir parking lot, first climbing to Pulpit Rock and then onward to the Pinnacle for spectacular views of the Lehigh Valley from both locations. This is not a beginner's hike due to the 1000' ascent and very rocky terrain. Bring a least 2L of water and lunch / snacks. Steady rain cancels.

Lock 2 Clean-UpWe will be removing invasive vegetation and opening up the trail leading to Lock #2. If time permits we will also work on Lock #1.
For National Trails Day, we will continue our long standing maintenance activities at Lock #2 just north of Jim Thorpe along the D&L Trail. Please bring tools (such as rakes, loppers, and trowels), gloves, water and lunch. We will cross over the trestle bridge and immediately take the trail to the left to the locks. We should finish by 2pm. We will meet at the railroad trestle bridge in Lehigh Gorge State Park. Make sure your vehicle is completely off the road. Past the trestle bridge is a parking lot that will accommodate a large number of vehicles.

Lehigh Gap Mountain Top Loop HikeA short challenging hike in Lehigh Gap with a steep 1000' ascent, some fine views of Palmerton, and some interesting history
We'll hike up a steep rocky slope in Lehigh Gap, past the George W. Outerbridge Shelter on the AT, up to the top of the ridge with fine views of Palmerton below, then back down a series of trails thru the recovering Palmerton Zinc Superfund Site, past the Marshall Mansion atop the red hill, and along the Lehigh River on the bed of the former Lehigh-New England RR. This is not a beginner's hike due to the steep 1000' ascent and rocky terrain. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Bring at least a liter of water and food/snacks. No pets and no politics please. Rain cancels.

Allentown Walk and Bach At Noon ConcertExplore downtown Allentown and enjoy a Bach At Noon concert.
Meet at Trout Hall at Walnut and S. 4th Streets in Allentown. We will walk around the area of downtown Allentown which William Allen laid out in 1762. This walk is on city sidewalks and will include stops to see the sights and learn some history. We will end at St. John's Lutheran Church, 37 S. 5th St., for the Bach at Noon concert. The concert is free, but donations are appreciated. Bring snacks and water. Rain on the morning of the walk will cancel the walk and we will meet at 11:50 am at the church for the concert.

This is a loop hike around the lake at Tuscarora State Park. There are some minor climbs and while the trails are sometimes heavily rooted, the trails are well maintained. There are some stream crossings and several areas are likely to be muddy. Please bring 2+ liters of water and lunch/snacks and wear sturdy hiking boots.

This is an evening trek where will hike a series of trails throughout Lehigh Gap Nature Center property... LNE Trail, Prairie Grass Trail, Charcoal Trail, Appalachian Trail up to a grouping of cell towers where we will wait for sunset before descending Translater Lane. Total elevation gain will be approximately 1,200'. At the towers we will wait for dark and listen for the calls of the Whip-Poor-Will on our way back down. We will be hiking in the dark on the descent so a flashlight or headlamp is essential. Please bring water and wear sturdy hiking boots. Trekking poles are recommended as the area we will be hiking is steep and rocky. Steady rain cancels.
