1	2	3	4	5 7-5-07 6:30 pm \| Hike Lehigh Gap Hike Hike the AT to the Outerbridge Shelter and continue up the Blue Trail for a view of the Gap. We will check the fire damage and return. Optional ice cream stop after hike. Meet at the parking lot on PA 873 on the west side of the gap. We will cross the Bushkill and follow Jacobsburg Trail to the Engler's Run connector trail. We will then do some rock-hopping across a small stream and hike the Sober's Run Loop before returning to our starting point. Bring water and some snacks or lunch; we will stop for a break. There will be lots of wildflowers, butterflies and birds if you wish to bring a camera. No Dogs, please. Heavy rain cancels. Hike the Dunnfield Creek trail and continue on to the Appalachian Trail, finally finishing at the Mohican Outdoor Center. The first 3 miles of this hike closely follow Dunnfield Creek making for very pleasing sights and sounds. New foot bridges and downed trees can be seen from previous flooding. After the creek we will hike along blueberry laden trails. While scouting this hike last year I spotted a bear. The blueberry bushes might account for the bear‚Äôs presence near the trail. The lunch break is at the very peaceful Sunfish Pond with another stop at Racoon Ridge, perhaps the nicest overlook on the New Jersey AT. There is an optional pizza stop after the hike. Meeting at the McDonalds parking lot at the 25th street shopping center by rt. 22 in Palmer Township at 8:30, or at the Delaware Water Gap Visitors Center at 9:30 located off the first exit of I80 in New Jersey, when heading east.
