Test your hiking ability with this challenging 21 mile overnight backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail!

*NOTE* This is a challenging 17.1 mile hike on Saturday and additional 4.2 miles on Sunday. Please be physically able to complete. Meeting at end point of hike at PA 309 Summit and leaving chase vehicles. Then car-pooling to Reservoir Rd. Hamburg start point. The hike will be Saturday for Reservoir Rd. parking area (490 Reservoir Rd. in Hamburg) to Allentown Shelter (overnight) then Sunday hike to the parking area at PA 309 (2620 W Penn Pike Andreas PA 18211). We should be returning to the parking area around 10:30AM. Then driving hikers back to pick up cars at start point. Bring a dish to share, the club will provide hot dogs and drinks prepared by our resident chef Carl Griffin. We will meet at Franco Park in Salisbury Twp. Directions: I-78 N towards Allentown to Lehigh St and north to Downeyflake Lane(1st light). Right to South 12th St, right at the light, left at end onto Emmaus Ave to Honeysuckle Rd, right at Salisbury Fire Co(Honeysuckle Rd), left onto Black River Rd. Franco Park 1/4 mile on the left.

Short hike and cooling off in chutes, drops and pools.

Check out the chutes, drops and pools of the Seven Tubs Natural Area. We'll warm up with a short 2-mile hike, then stop for lunch. Another short walk will lead us to an icy swimming hole to cool off before we return to the cars. Wear a swimsuit or something you don't mind getting wet. Bring lunch, liquids and a change of clothes and sunscreen.

Comfortable bike ride (9-11 mph) on the D&L Trail from the Cementon access to Bowanstown with a stop for lunch on the return in Slatington. The ride is around 32 miles.

Cyclists must have a helmut and plenty of hydration. Any bikes is ok as long as it has tires for relatively easy crushed gravel trails. Hybrids or mountain are best but not abolutely required. The ride will start in Northampton at 9:00 a.m. at the main parking lot for the Northampton Park (1/2 block South of 329 in Northampton near the Northampton-Cementon Bridge). The ride will proceed North on the D&L Trail to Laureys Station, Slatington, Lehigh Nature Center and end in Bowanstown. On the return from Bowanstown we will stop for lunch at a pizza place in Slatington. Riders will experience several new sections of the D&L Trail just completed this year. Limited number of riders will be accepted.
