Monthly Meeting of the Allentown Hiking Club held at the Lehigh County Citizens Center, 1633 Elm Street, Allentown, PA.

There will be a business meeting followed by refreshments and scheduling of activities for the months of October-December 2006. THE ISSUE OF A NEW MEETING PLACE WILL BE A PRIMARY ITEM OF BUSINESS. WE WILL FORM A COMMITTEE TO MAKE A SELECTION POSSIBLY FOR OUR OCTOBER MEETING. WE MAY HAVE TO CHANGE THE MEETING NIGHT, WE MAY HAVE TO RAISE DUES. YOUR INPUT IS ESSENTIAL.

Start at Ringing Rocks, then on to Tohickon Valley Park and Ralph Stover State Park, site of the famous High Rocks Vista.

Hike for 3 miles in Ringing Rocks, a Bucks County park, including some bushwhacking. Next drive to Tohickon Valley Park (another Bucks County park) and Ralph Stover State Park, PA for a loop hike of 7 miles. We will hike from Tohickon Valley Park to the very scenic High Rocks Vista at Ralph Stover State Park using an unblazed but well-defined trail. We will continue by hiking along the scenic Tohickon Creek. We will return using the blazed Tohickon Valley Trail. If you wish to meet us for just the Tohickon / Stover hike, contact the leader for details. Meet at the McDonalds parking lot in the 25th Street Shopping Center at the intersection of routes 22 and 248.

Join us for a walk around Mauch Chunk Lake, west of Jim Thorpe in Carbon County Park.

On the way we will visit raptors at the educational center. One side of the lake is a developed park, the other quite wild. Bring sturdy shoes, lunch and water. Rain cancels. Meet at the Eckerd Drugs in Walnutport. Call for further details.

Are you aware that Bear Creek Mountain Resort (formerly Doe Mountain) has a newly established system of multi-use hiking and mountain biking trails open to the public?

We'll make about a six-mile loop through obstacles such as "Swamp Thing", "Stinky's", "Rattler", and "Trenchtown" as we check it out. Proper footgear is recommended. Bring lunch and liquids and wear sturdy shoes. A release waiver is required and the trails are closed after rain if erosion could be a problem. Meet at the Days Inn at Routes 309 and 22. NO PETS.

Hike a combination of trails in Hickory Run State Park for a 6-1/2 mile loop.

The hike will include parts of Fourth Run, Fire Line, Skyline and Hickory Run Trails. Please bring lunch and water. Meet at Eckerd Drug in Walnutport.
