Trexler Preserve – Choose Ur Own Adventure 9 or 18 milesLooking at a map, you wouldn’t give this park a second glance, but the Trexler Nature Preserve is a local jewel. It has some wonderful hills & valleys, amazing wildlife, several covered bridges, and a plethora of stunning views... I hope you can join us for an excellent day on the trails.
We’ll be keeping the group together throughout the day, so it’s important that you can maintain a 3 mph average pace. But this is a perfect hike for those people who want to attempt a 3 mph hike because there will be a pre-planned bail out at 9 miles into the hike.
We’ll be first hiking the red trail which loops the boundary of the park. This will take us through the North Range of the park which has some truly great views of the area. At roughly 9 miles, we’ll be back at our cars, where people can call it a day if they want.
For the rest of us, we’ll continue to explore the park using the interior trails. During this time, we’ll go by the Bison & Elk pens, the river, the covered bridges, etc. Like I mentioned, this park has a lot to offer… Hope to see you there!!!

Workout Hike in Trexler Preserve - Allentown & Bethlehem Area (3-4,C,9+/-)Come join us for a great midweek workout hike in a wonderful park, with some amazing views & a great company of fellow hikers. This will be a workout hike, so be expected to hike at above a 3 mph average pace.
The plan is to go as a fast as possible, staying together as a group, getting in as many miles as possible before sunset. But it’s always a good idea to bring a headlamp in case we have to do those last couple of miles in the dark. Please note, only a Red-light headlamp is allowed. Sorry, white-light headlamps are not permitted on this hike

Massive Boulder Field - Pulpit & Pinnacle Hike 1 of 2 (3-D-10 +/-)Join us for a great day on the trail as we hike to a massively long Boulder Field that not many people know exists. We’ll take fire roads until we get close to it, and then have to go off trail / bushwhack to the eastern edge a field. This field is just one of several fields that make up almost a 2 miles long chain of a geographic feature that you must see to believe. At the end of the this chain there’s a couple hundred feet climb up a rock field until we get back onto the fire roads and wooded trails back to our cars. Expect about 3-4 miles of this hike (out of an overall 10 miles total) to be off trail.
This hike is for Adventurous Hikers Only. We will be keeping the group together throughout the day. Thus it’s important that your able to comfortably hike at a 3.0 mph on hilly wooded trails (obviously, we’ll only go as safely possible while on the boulder fields). There are more details, and pictures of our previous hike to this area on Meetup.
This will be one of two hikes in the same location. We’re going to break them up in case there are people who just want to do one hike over the other. But hope to see you on both hikes.

Pulpit & Pinnacle Full Moon Hike 2 of 2 (3-D-9 +/-)Pulpit Rock & Pinnacle are often considered the two premier vistas on the entire PA stretch of the AT, offering endless views of Lehigh valley and its surrounding ridges. With about 1300 feet in elevation gain, it’s also a great workout, with most of the gain happening within a 2 mile stretch. We’re going to keep the group together, hence it’s important that you’re able to maintain a 3.0 mph pace. We will watch the sunset at the top of the mountain, & walking down in the dark. Having a red-light only headlamp is required to do this hike, sorry no white lights.

Pulpit and Pinnacle Loop HikeLoop hike to Pulpit Rock and the Pinnacle.
This is a loop hike, starting at the Hamburg Reservoir parking lot, first climbing to Pulpit Rock and then onward to the Pinnacle for spectacular views of the Lehigh Valley from both locations. This is not a beginner's hike due to the 1000' ascent and very rocky terrain. Bring a least 2L of water and lunch / snacks. Steady rain cancels.

AT Lehigh Gap – Choose Your Own Adventure Hike – 11, or 13, or 22 milesWe’re organizing a hike on the AT on the section that goes from Bake Oven Knob through the Lehigh Gap all the way to Little Gap. But with this hike, people are able to choose how far they would like to hike. Option A is 11 miles, Option B is 13 miles, and Option C is 22 miles.
We’re going to keep all three groups together, so you must be able to maintain a strong 3 mph average pace
This section of the AT is a must for any hiker! In a very short section, there are inspiring views of the multiple valleys & several spots where you walk along ridgelines with commanding views of the area. There are boulder fields, followed by sections where you are hiking in pine trees, then in fields of dense ferns, then in tall grass with little to no trees. There are spots where you find yourself climbing hand over hand up a very steep incline that is full of rocks. Hope to see you on the hike!!
