This is a 2 mile hike with some bushwacking on the AT trail. We will learn about the charcoal region and see it through the eyes of an archaeologist

The hike is designed to highlight the charcoal industry of the Blue mountains. It will be lead by one of the AHC leaders and Ben Carter, who is a archaeologist from Muhlenberg College. This is a B+ rated hike. Please bring 1-2 bottles of water, a lite snack and a good pair of hiking boots/shoes. Hike around South Bethlehem and enjoy a Bach at Noon concert

We will meet on Sand Island at the parking lot under the Fahy Bridge and walk on the D & L Trail east to the Minsi Trail Bridge. After crossing the Lehigh River, we will walk the Hoover-Mason Trestle, and then head west toward the Fahy Bridge. After crossing the Lehigh River again, we will head toward the early Moravian buildings and Central Moravian Church in downtown Bethlehem for the Bach at Noon concert. The concert is free, but donations are appreciated. After the concert, we will walk back to Sand Island and our cars. Bring snacks and water. If there is steady rain on the morning of the event, the hike portion will be cancelled; meet in the balcony of the church at the corner of Main and West church Streets, Bethlehem at 11:30 for the concert. No calls on the morning of the event.

Join us for a walk through Quakertown

We'll meet at the Eagle/Local in Quakertown and stay together as we head down to the lighted Park at 4th. Once there, people can walk at their own pace as we circle around the different paths. After the walk we'll head back to the 200 year old historic Eagle/Local, a familiar local dive bar. As it is dark now, please wear bright clothing and/or bring a flashlight. 10-12 miles of beautiful rolling hills, reservoirs and old quarry

We will explore trails on both sides of Hay Creek in this beautiful, varied preserve, including both reservoirs and an old quarry that is now a climbing area. Some wet, muddy areas. Trail is mostly in the shade. Bring lunch/snacks and plenty of water.

The cable bridge was washed away by 2018 storms, it has not been replaced. So, we will begin the hike at Old Route 82 parking area; drive to the dead end. The address is 2000 Haycreek Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 (40.239180,-75.829908).

Starting at The Castle of Skylands Manor, one of old manors in the area. Hike a number of trails through a preserved forest. This is home for the NJ Botanical Gardens. One mountain top will present views into NYC.

With over 40 miles of trails, 2 ridge lines, and 3 lakes, there is much to see. Steep hillside climb to start. Wet areas around streams and reservoirs.
