Beginners Trail Maintenance Leisure Walk

Let's take a walk on Appalachian Trail from Fort Franklin Road to Tri County Corner. This is a great maintenance hike for Beginners. We will leisurely walk along the trail removing branches, weeds, blow downs, and picking up trash to keep the trail nice and clean for all hikers to enjoy hiking the trail. Bring gloves, hand tools (pruners, clippers), water and lunch / snacks. We will stop at AHC Shelter, Tri County Corner, spring (blue trail) (yellow trail). You will learn what it takes to be a Maintainer, and eventually adopt a section of the AHC Appalachian Trail.

CANCELLED - Loop hike around Blue Marsh Lake - CANCELLED

This is a 24-mile loop hike around the lower portion of Blue Marsh Lake. There is no significant elevation gain, though the distance and pace make this a not-at-all-for-beginner hike. Bring at least 2+liters of water plus lunch and plenty of snacks to stay fueled. Steady rain cancels. Hike the Monocacy Trail and enjoy a Bach concert.

We will meet at the Illick's Mill parking lot for the two mile walk on the Monocacy Trail to center city Bethlehem, where we will proceed to the balcony of Central Moravian Church for the Bach at Noon concert. The concert is free; donation are appreciated. After the concert, we will eat lunch in the Colonial Industrial Quarter and then walk back to our cars. Bring lunch and water. Rain on the morning of the event cancels the hike, but we will meet in the balcony of the church (73 West Church Street) at 11:30 for the concert. No calls the morning of the event.

Day Hike the trails on the South Side of Nockamixon State Park

UPDATE: DUE TO POOR TRAIL CONDITIONS THIS HIKE IS BEING MOVED TO THE PAVED TRAILS AND PARK ROADS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LAKE. MEETING PLACE AND TIME TEMAIN THE SAME. ORIGINAL PLAN: We will hike on the trails in the Dam area of the park heading west on the Mink, Church and Elephant trails. These trails give a nice view of the lake as we hike. Bring lunch and water. Rain cancels hike.

Watch the moonrise from the Pinnacle.

Please arrive by 1:45pm for a 2:00pm departure. As we will need to make it up to the Pinnacle by sunset, the group will leave on time. Traffic on Route 22 can be a challenge so please plan accordingly. Come and watch the full moon rise from the Pinnacle! November’s full Moon was called the Beaver Moon by the Algonquin tribes. Back then, this was the month to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. This is an 8 mile loop hike, starting at the Hamburg Reservoir parking lot and then going up to the Pulpit and Pinnacle for spectacular views of the rising full moon. Sunset is at 4:40pm and moonrise is at 5:27pm. This is not a beginner's hike due to the ~1000' ascent, rocky terrain and nighttime conditions. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, at least 2 liters of water and food/snacks. Also bring warm layers as we will be waiting at the Pinnacle for the moon to rise. Rain/snow or overly cloudy conditions could cancel the hike.

Join us for a walk through Quakertown

We'll meet at the Eagle/Local in Quakertown and stay together as we head down to the lighted Park at 4th. After the walk we'll head back to the 200 year old historic Eagle/Local, a familiar local dive bar. Plans for renovations have been pushed back but the food is good! As it is dark now, please wear bright clothing and/or bring a flashlight. Meet in the parking lot behind the Eagle/Local.
