The Allentown Hiking Club was organized on Dec. 2, 1931, and everyone is welcome to join us for our 75th anniversary celebration at the Lehigh County Senior Center, 1633 Elm St., Allentown in the Trexler Room.

Tables will be set up for displays from each decade of the club's history. At 3 PM there will be a program that will include recognition of past presidents and honorary members, and at 5 PM we will have a potluck meal. The event will wrap up at 6:30 PM. Everyone is invited to bring photos and other memorabilia. There will be plenty of time to socialize, share memories, and reminisce. Please bring a potluck dish or snack item to share. All former members, family members and friends are invited. No reservations are needed and there is no cost to attend.

Hike to the Pinnacle to celebrate our 75th anniversay.

Since club records indicate that the destination of the club's first hike in December 1931 was the Pinnacle, we will complete our weekend celebration with a hike to this impressive spot. Hike from Windsor Furnace over Pulpit Overlook to the Pinnacle and return via the Hamburg Reservoir. Bring lunch, water, and (optional) a food item to share at the Pinnacle. Meet at the Days Inn at Rt. 22 and 309.

Join the 40-somethingth annual Peace Pilgrimage from Nazareth to Bethlehem.

Meet at the parking lot at Broad and Elm Streets, Bethlehem, near the post office by 10:45. The pilgrimage starts with a bus ride to Nazareth Moravian Church on Center Square. The flat terrain is easy walking, with several stops along the way. For further information call 610-258-7313.

Hike the Sand Spring and Tom Lowe Trails, a 5-mile loop through varied forest that comes close to the A.T., where we can expand the distance if we like.

Another rescheduling of a "weathered out" hike, if it snows we might still do it. The trailhead is near Shartlesville. Bring lunch and water; wear sturdy shoes. Rain or blizzard cancel. Meet at the Day's Inn, Routes 22 & 309. Call for further information.

Hike around beautiful Lake Galena in Peace Valley, a Bucks County Park.

Hike circles around Lake Galena. Bad weather cancels. There will be an optional stop at restaurant in the Doylestown area, after the hike. Meet at the McDonalds parking lot in the 25th Street Shopping Center at the intersection of routes 22 and 248.

Meet at the parking lot on Rt. 309 at the top of Blue Mountain. We will walk 4 miles to the Shelter, where we will pause for a snack before heading back to our cars. Anyone who wants a shorter 4 mile hike can join the group at the Jacksonville-Snyders Rd. Bring a snack and water.
