Starting 6:30PM is our potluck holiday dinner. This will be followed by our monthly business meeting and winter hike scheduling.

Following the business meeting we will be looking to schedule hikes and other events for January, February and March 2012. These scheduled events will be published in our Winter 2012 Happy Hiker and posted on our website. Please complete an AHC Hike/Event form and give to the Hiking Schedule Coordinator.

The Peace message for the holidays in mind, this walk goes from Nazareth to Bethlehem, little or no climbs, and with long stops along the way.

Buses take pilgrims from 520 E. Broad Street (Bechtel Building), Bethlehem starting at 10:45 AM, the walk beginning at noon. Bring lunch. The walk ends around 5:00 PM, followed by a soup supper and program at Christ UCC, Market & Center Streets. Hike in PPL's Martins Creek Environmental Preserve to enjoy winter's open-wooded beauty.

The walk features varied woodlands, geological formations and scenic views of the Delaware River along its west bank. Also included is the Foul Rift Natural Area - a section of river enjoyed by local boaters for its brief whitewater section. The land was named Tekening by the Lenni Lenape Indians and means "in the wood." Wear sturdy shoes to suit weather conditions. Bring lunch and water for our stop at the wooden "terrace" overlooking the river.

It is a constant up and down the hilly terrain that makes up the park. The park is located outside of Riegelsville, Pa near route 611. You will get some wonderful views of the Delaware River during the hike. Enjoy an easy hike to the Shelter where we will share munchies.

We will start at PA 309 and hike south four miles to the Allentown Shelter. At the shelter we will stop for a break; bring a snack item to share with the group. After a suitable period eating and socializing, we will retrace our steps to PA 309. Anyone interested in a shorter four mile hike or a later start time can start at Fort Franklin Road.
