This is a somewhat challenging hike along the Appalachian ridge which will include 1.1 miles on an exposed unstable boulder field. Not for beginners! Many great views north and south!

Leaving from and returning to Lehigh Furnace Gap on the AT, this “loop” hike will include portions of the AT as well as the north and south trails on either side of it and a stop at Outerbridge Shelter. This is not a hike for beginners! We will traverse a 1.1 mile unstable boulder field on the South trail, continue to Outerbridge Shelter, and return on the North trail. Numerous views both north and south of the Northeast Extension and Lehigh River. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks. Rain cancels.
