Gallery: Maintenance Hike, January 3, 2024
New AHC Trails Coordinator, Maintenance Trip Leader, and Certified Sawyer Kerry Snyder
Kerry in full safety gear makes an initial cut to clear blowdown.
Moving the logs was hard, but cutting was harder! The rest of the crew spent a good deal of time watching Kerry's expert work.
With this area cleared, it's on to the next blowdown!
2023 thru-hiker Alison ("Double H") joined us for the day. Also pictured: AHC volunteer and 2000-miler Hal Wright (center), and Kerry

Our most challenging blowdown was supported at one side in the crux of one tree and the branches of another.
Kerry's second cut on this large tree
The trail was cleared, but the tree didn't fall! How long will it remain suspended?
Allison departed a little early after helping the team for hours.
